Guide-Counselors must be…

Emotionally and spiritually prepared for hard work in the service of others
-
Able to sustain prolonged physical activity (i.e. paddling, hiking, etc.)

Excited about working with youth and influencing their lives for the better
-
Engaged in the life of faith and willing to lead open discussion, Bible study, and devotions from a Christian perspective

Enthusiastic about being outdoors for extended periods. Extensive wilderness/camping experience is not necessary, but preferred.

Present for the entirety of staff training, usually the first two and a half weeks of June.

Over 19 years of age, or having completed one year of college
-
Certified in lifeguarding and CPR by the beginning of staff training
Responsibilities Include…
-
Lead a variety of wilderness trips during the eight weeks of the summer season, including Montreal canoeing, flatwater canoeing, white water canoeing, backpacking, and family camp

Lead and teach wilderness skills, including canoeing, outdoor cooking, and camping skills

Take responsibility, usually along with a co-guide, for the health, safety, and well-being of groups of 5-14 Jr. or Sr. high aged campers

Act as a caring and encouraging role model of Christian life, emotional health, and compassion for others

Assist with various in-camp duties when not on-trail as assigned by the directors
